Here's what's popping in 1st grade

Today, in honor of National Popcorn Month, we learned about the Scientific Method by counting out 100 popcorn kernels into a paper bag and guessing how many would pop after two minutes in the microwave.   The kids learned all six steps of the Scientific Method.  Afterwards we popped a small batch of plain popcorn to taste.
 

 

 
 
We wrote facts about some of our favorite animals.  This followed a fact and opinion discussion.

 

 
We formed two teams and played Build A Spider to practice subtraction facts.
