Welcome to the 2017/2018 school year at Kirk O’ the Valley. We are looking forward to an exciting first grade year!
School begins on Wednesday, August 23 at 8:30 A.M. Parents, you may accompany your child to the classroom (Room 10) and look around together for the first five minutes. However, we will need to start our day promptly so please keep your good-byes short and trust that your children will be in good hands. For the balance of the school year, please take your child to the rear play yard after they put their backpacks and lunches away. We will meet the children there when the bell rings and walk them into class after the flag salute. Supervision on the yard begins at 8 A.M. Class is dismissed at 2:30 P.M. every day. We will open our door at that time and you may meet us at the door to get your child. If your child stays after school, he or she will be walked out to the yard.
In addition to lunch, please provide a snack for your child to eat during recess. A snack cart will be available on certain days only. More information about the snack cart will follow. Please place snacks in separate snack bags. Just put the snack in your child’s lunchbox. Lunches go on the shelf outside of the Angie Quinn door.
We allow water bottles in the classroom provided they have sports-type tops (this is very important) and contain water only.
Back-to-School Night tba. We will discuss the class schedule and any other questions or concerns you may have. Please plan to attend.
You will find the First Grade Supply List below. On the first day of school please send in supplies as well as your child’s earthquake kit. If you prefer, you can bring the supplies to the office before Aug. 17 so we can set the children up. If you need to update your emergency forms, please contact the office.
This will be a fun-filled school year with lots of opportunity for academic and social growth. Enjoy the rest of your summer and we will see you all soon. We will return to school mid- August.
